ABOUT THE ART
Each design is drawn by the Artist and she makes her own stencils from her drawings.
Stained glass pattern books are never used.
The designs are cut from
opaque stained glass using a simple manual cutter. Electric glass saws are
not used so the true mosaic look is not compromised. Sometimes pieces then
have details painted and baked on. All the pieces are then glued onto light-weight
wood that the artist has cut, sanded and stained. In the final step, the
mosaics are grouted with black grout to fill in the spaces.
Every piece is
signed and comes ready to hang. The mosaics are lighter than they may appear
and even the large ones only require a nail to hang them. They are designed
to be displayed as you would a painting and are not for use outside.
The mosaic pictured here, was recently used in the Walt Disney tv movie 'Harriet The Spy' for Harriet's bedroom. |
